We're just Passing Through

Marcia said they are living in their daughter's house while she's working out of state for at least a year. And she wants to spruce up her landscape. The backyard has flower beds but they've never been planted. She told me what her ideas for the landscape are, and some of the plants she likes, so we found some more plants that will work for her.

If you have a sunny yard, these three plants will do well.

-Springtime Indian Hawthorn blooms in the spring and stays green all year long.

-Shoal Creek Chaste Tree is an improved variety of Vitex. Summer blooms and after a few years it will create a nice privacy screen.

-Desperado Sage- another improved variety that is compact and is a very strong bloomer.

-Bridal Wreath is an evergreen shrub that blooms in the spring.

-Autumn Sage will stay compact and bloom spring and summer, but really puts on a show in the fall. Lots of colors to choose from. This one is Coral.

-In the summer Mystic Spires Salvia is loaded with blooms.

For summer color you can't beat Crapemyrtle. Here are 3 good ones that won't get much bigger than 15' tall:

-Catawba blooms dark purple

-Dynamite is about as red as you can get.

-Hopi is a light pink

More summer color. Drift Roses come in many colors. Here are

-Coral

-Peach

-Red

-Purple Skullcap is a low grower and it blooms on and off all summer.

-Bicolor Iris will pop flowers all summer.

-Powis Castle Artemisia loves hot weather.

If you are looking for a ground cover here are three good ones.

-Procumbens Juniper stays lower than 12"

-Blue Rug Juniper stays lower than 6"

-Snow and Summer Asiatic Jasmine has pink and white variegation on the new growth.

That's it for now. Let me know if you have any questions.
