There was a huge tree that shaded their entire yard. Now it's gone!! That's what happened to Chuck and Janice. So, now they need to rethink their entire landscape. Here are some plants that will work.
For a medium size hedge next to the house
-Dwarf Burford Holly- an oldie but a dependable goodie!
-Loropetalum- colorful burgundy leaves
-New Gold Lantana- another plant for dependable summer color.
-Giant Liriope will be noticed from afar.
-Blue Zinger Sedge is great for adding a different color to the flower bed.
-Pink Skullcap will bloom on and off all summer.
-Bicolor Iris will bloom all summer.
-Jurusalem Sage will get bigger each year.
-Butterfly Iris will bloom all summer, too.
-Wooly Stemodia is a great heat tolerant ground cover.
-Autumn Sage loves your summer sunshine.
-Mexican Feather Grass is very low maintenance.
-Chocolate Chip Ajuga- this Ajuga is bulletproof. Just gets bigger every year.
-Purple Trailing Lantana- you expect it to be blooming at Christmas.
-Blackfoot Daisy-a Hill Country native.
-Society Garlic-blooms like this all the time.
-Yucca Rostrata-what a beautiful Yucca!!
-Golden Barrel Cactus- also beautiful.
-Four Nerve Daisy-blooms every month of the year.
-Rock Rose or Pink Pavonia- another good Hill Country Native.
-Orange Bulbine- always blooming.
There's always room for Sedum- here are three-
-Stone Crop
-Autumn Joy
-Lemon Coral
-Foxtail Fern might freeze back but it will come back in the spring.
-Blue Plumbago does the same thing.
-And Pink Autumn Sage- blooms a lot...even when you aren't looking.
Often in sloping yards drainage causes erosion. You will never be able to stop the erosion unless you install an underground drain of some kind. But another way is to create a dry creek bed that is part of the landscape. Here are a few ideas some landscapers have installed.
