The Courtyard

he yard at Kevin and Janine's house is all Courtyard. Very unique but very challenging. Here are some of the plants they might consider.


-Double Knockout is a great bloomer and hold up good in droughts too.

-Double Pink Knockout is equally as durable and another great bloomer.

-If you are looking for a border plant, Big Blue Liriope is hard to beat.


-Bicolor Iris is a standard in Central Texas for low maintenance in the landscape.

-Butterfly Iris is equally as durable.

-Society Garlic makes a nice border and it blooms all the time.



-Autumn Sage (or Salvia greggii) does pretty good in full sun or light shade. There are many different colors to choose from.

-Dwarf Gardenias do pretty good in ight shade and will have lots of flowers during the summer.

-Orange Bulbine is another plant that blooms from spring to winter.


-Aztec Grass also makes a good border and brightens up an area with it's variegation.

-Texas Betany is a perennial that blooms all summer.

-Mexican Heather is a central Texas favorite.


-Purple Fountain Grass adds lots of color to the landscape.

-Purple Heart Wandering Jew is easy and, though it's an annual, it usually comes back in the spring.

-Foxtail Fern can take sun or shade.


-When it comes to Lantana, you have a multitude of choices. Here are Dallas Red

-and Irene Lantana.

-Lord Baltimore is a Hardy Hibiscus.


-Cannas can be either standard or dwarf, like these red variety.

-Dusty Miller is often overlooked. It's very hardy and low maintenance.

-Mystic Spires Salvia is definitely a superstar in our soil.


-Bridal Wreath loads up with white flowers in the spring.

-Pink Lady Indian Hawthorne does the same with pink flowers.

-Firebush is a favorite of every hummingbird I've ever known.


If you want to screen an area here are some plants that will do the job...

-Japanese Blueberry

-Loquat

-Xylosma


If you want blooms all summer try these oleanders

-Shari D

-Trey Boy

-Petite Pink


More summer color

-Mexican Bush Sage

-Showers of Gold Thryallis

-Blue Plumbago



-Giant Liriope likes full sun or full shade

-Acanthus mollis goes by a variety of common names, like Grecian Pattern Plant. It does this in the summer.

-Pink Skullcap is native to our neighbor to the south. Que Bueno!
