Sajid and his wife bought a beautiful home but there is virtually no landscape. He is anxious to get started on it. So, here are some of the plants that will work in his yard.

-New Gold Lantana is always on the most popular plants list for south Texas landscapes
-Wooly Stemodia is a great ground cover.
-Blue Plumbago will bloom all summer

-Ballerina Hawthorn
-Snow White Hawthorn
-Shades of Pink Viburnum
Summer bloomers include
-Pink Skullcap
-Blackfoot Daisy
-Coral Drift Rose
-Bicolor Iris blooms all summer
-Variegated Liriope will make a fine border or look even better mass planted.
-Need a screen? Shoal Creek Vitex will do the trick

One of the big issues in this part of the country is dealing with drainage. We love our hills but when it rains the water needs to go somewhere. With our sloping landscapes we often get the neighbors water or they get ours.
Below are a few pictures of my landscape. When I bought this house 35 years ago the backyard sloped hard from left to right. I added a big flower bed across the back and installed a drainage pipe that drained the water into a dry creek bed at the back of my lot. The bed looks horrible now because the plants in it froze the last three years. But, you can get the idea how big the bed is.
