Keep it Simple

Brian and Anita have a beautiful yard, and it's huge! They want to reduce the area they maintain and let that part go back to it's natural state. So, their goal is to create a border between the part they take care of and the rest of the property. So, here are some plants that don't need a lot of water or maintenance.

-Possum Haw is a native that looks best in the winter after it's leaves fall off. And the birds love the red berries.

-Santa Barbara Salvia blooms all summer and doesn't get too talll.

-Pride of Barbados starts bloomin in May or June and doesn't stop until September or October.

-Zexmenia blooms all summer.

-Yucca rostrata is a standout when it comes to yuccas.

-And not landscape is complete without Salvia greggii.

And speaking of natives, here are three different varieties of Muhly Grass

-Bamboo Mhhly will get abou 4' tall.

-Pink Muhly will get 2' tall but it's seed heads will get 4' in the fall.

-Big Muhly is carefree and will stay small.

-Jerusalem Sage really puts on a show in the spring.

-Spineless Prickly Pear can't be beat if you want a Xeriscape landscape.

-Texas Sotol puts on a bloom that's about 10' tall.

-Mexican Oregano will bloom in the summer and the deer eat it.

-Mountain Agave is one of many agaves that you can find in our landscapes

-And back in the shady area there's not a better native than Turk's Cap.

There are lots of other Xeriscape plants but, the goal was to keep it simple.

Any questions please send me an email or text.

Thanks for dropping by.
