Theresa really knows what she likes. She has a pretty good idea what she wants to do with her landscape too. But she just needs a little help putting the pieces together. So, we got together and talked about it. Here are some of the plants for her yard.
-Purple Diamond Loropetalum- There are a lot of Loropetalums out there now. This one is pretty low growing. And the burgundy leaves will add color to your landscape.
-Bicolor Iris is a great "stand alone" plant for your landscape. Planted in full sun it will bloom all summer to.
-Prostrate Rosemary is an herb but in Central Texas it's more of a shrub.
-Powis Castle Artemisia is evergreen and will get about 12" tall.
-White Agapanthus is not common but it definitely makes a statement in the spring and early summer.
-Purple Trailing Lantana- this will bloom right up to the end of the year in Central Texas
-Xanadu Philodendron has about 4 times as many leaves as other varieties and they leaves are smaller.
-Splitleaf Philodendron's leaves are definitely bigger but otherwise they are very similar.
-Variegated Flax Lily has sword shaped leaves that get about 18" long. It likes sun or shade.
-Elephant Ears are good in the shade. There are dozens of varieties that grow different sizes with different leaf characteristics.
-Plumbago is a good summer bloomer and if you shop around you can find the normal Blue variety, but there is also a variety that blooms white.
When you are putting in new beds you might want to border then with rocks. Here are a few ideas I've seen around town.
That's it for today. Let me know if you have any questions.
